Hi, I’m Richard — you can call me Kuma.

I’m a Senior Product Designer based in Tokyo. I turn complex information and product constraints into clear, thoughtful experiences — from data-heavy SaaS to the touchscreen inside a smart guitar.

Most recently, I was the sole designer for Razor, an AI hotel-pricing SaaS, taking its brand, marketing website, and product UI from early concepts to launch-ready handoff. Previously, at LAVA MUSIC, I helped shape HILAVA OS for smart guitars shipped on 50,000+ instruments, designing tools for playing, practicing, and creating within a compact touchscreen.

My strength is connecting the bigger picture with the details: structuring information, refining interactions, and building design systems that help teams deliver consistent products. I work closely with product and engineering teams to make thoughtful trade-offs and bring designs into implementation.

I work in English and Japanese, with Mandarin as my native language. This site is where I explore interaction, motion, and new tools — and share the curiosity behind my work.
